one of the first questions you’ll need toaddress when you begin to create a website is which colors to choose for the design. not surprisingly, a website’s color paletteis one of the first things that site visitors notice, which is why it has such a fundamentalpart in the overall design process. colors influence a website’s look and style, but also play a significant role in that site’s performance. in other words, the colors you choose foryour website can impact its success in terms of visit duration, returning users, clickrates, or sales. so how do we proceed with choosing the perfectcolors for a professional website?

this is where color theory comes into play. color theory is an important concept in artand design. at the heart of color theory is the colorwheel. i’m sure you’ve seen it before. it looks like this. [show in vg] the color wheel is an illustrated organizationof colors, based on the relationship between them. the base of the wheel is comprised of thethree primary colors – red, blue and yellow.

added between those are the secondary colors– green, orange and purple. in the elementary color wheel, which has 12colors, the additional six tertiary colors are added, formed as a mix of the primaryand secondary ones – yellow-green, green-blue, blue-purple, purple-red, red-orange, orange-yellow. also common is the 24 hues color wheel, whichhas a more elaborate breakdown. the color wheel is divided into two generalcategories: warm colors, which revolve around yellow, orange and red – including mostbrown hues – and on the opposite side are the cool colors, revolving around blue, greenand purple – including most gray hues. there’s no right or wrong in choosing warmor cool colors.

the choice depends on the effect you wantto achieve. warm colors are considered to be stimulating, and convey action and vitality. cool colors, on the other hand, are consideredto be tranquil, and have a calming effect. whether you choose to work only with coolor warm colors depends on your brand identity and on the atmosphere you want to create onyour site. of course, combining warm with cool is alsoa possibility. successful color combinations follow a setof color schemes, most of which are based on the position of the colors on the wheelitself. for instance:complementary scheme: this formula takes two

colors that are positioned exactly oppositefrom each other on the color wheel, like red with green, or yellow and purple. using two contrasting colors together makesyour design more lively. to create a full scheme, add a neutral colorto the complementary duo. beige, light browns, light grays, black orwhite. analogous scheme: in this formula, you’lluse three colors that are adjacent to each other on the wheel, like orange, yellow-orangeand yellow, or purple, purple-blue and blue. any three colors that sit next to each onthe wheel harmonize well, because of their closeness.

color triad: ready to use some geometry? the color triad scheme takes any three colorson the wheel that are of an equal distance from each other, forming a perfect equilateraltriangle. possible combinations would be yellow-green,orange-red and purple-blue, or yellow-orange, red-purple and blue-green. this scheme tends to be very vibrant. you’ll want to create a balance where oneof the colors dominates, and the other two are supporting colors. split complementary scheme: with this formula, start by choosing one color, and adding the

two colors that sit right next to its complementarycolor (creating an isosceles triangle). possible combinations here would be red, yellow-greenand blue-green, or purple, yellow-orange and yellow-green. this scheme offers a refined contrast, onethat isn’t quite so bold as the regular complementary one. tetradic scheme: here you will be forminga scheme from two pairs of complementary colors, making a rectangle on your wheel. for instance, you could combine yellow-orange,yellow-green, blue-purple and red-purple. this scheme is particularly rich.

you don’t want color-chaos on your website,so pick one color to set the tone, and the rest to add a nuance. monochromatic scheme: as the name implies, this scheme utilizes different hues of the same color. you could use a wide spectrum that includesthe darkest and lightest hues of that color or narrow it down by using the tones aroundeither the dark or the light area. monochromatic color schemes have a clean andminimalist visual impact. achromatic scheme: your classic black andwhite, possibly accompanied by gray (but not as the dominant color).

and there you have it. a quick look at color theory and how you canuse colors in different ways to design your website. thanks for watching! bye for now.

hello there, welcome to this video! let's see all the basic features you need to know to use coreldraw x8 when starting for the first time! please write comments below to improve our next videos! when opening coreldraw, your workspace opens on the welcome screen tab that can be useful to get started. let's just start with a new document. click on the new button on top. its dialog box appears, showing several options for new documents, like name, size, number of pages, and other advanced options. for example, in size, you can choose the basic format between several standards, in order to fit you document with tablets,

letters and printers. by choosing the format, you will automatically fix both width and height under rendering resolution. decide on the number of pixels to be used for your document: the more it is, the better the quality will be. then, just go to ok. your workspace is composed by several parts: on top, you have the menu bar and the standard toolbar, that collect all features inside coreldraw. a little below, there's the property bar, used to edit tools and objects. on the far left, you have the toolbox, which is a full list of the quickest and most useful tools. in the center, a detailed preview of

your document in progress and, on the far right, you have several panels that we will see through this guide. especially when starting for the first time, take a look at the hints panel on the right. this is quite useful, since it describes how a selected tool works. if you close any panel by mistake, you can reopen it going to window on top and then to dockers, clicking on the missing panel in the list. let's draw a freehand line. enable the freehand tool from the toolbox, and click and drag on your document. this creates an object on your

document. you can use your mouse wheel to zoom in and out of your document or press the h key from your keyboard to enable the pen tool and check your document carefully. the toolbox is composed by several important tools divided in different sections. some of these buttons do show a black arrow in a corner that means that, under the button, and there are more tools hidden inside. to show them all, simply click and hold and release your click when you hover on the tool you want to select. before starting drawing, it is important to set all coreldraw features

that may help you to draw correctly. all these can be enabled and disabled from the standard toolbar on top. the first icon is related to the rules, which are placed on top and on the left of your workspace. the second one applies grids on your workspace. while the third one on the guidelines, which are lines used to help you drawing along a straight direction. to add one, click and hold on starting from a shown ruler. among these, you can also get help from the snappings. you can enable and disable any kind of snapping going to snap to, on top. you can use

snapping to grids, guidelines and objects. these are used to draw precisely, in a very easy way. if you enable snappings to objects, your pointer will snap to several object key points when you are using any drawing tool. object edges and vertices are represented through squares; midpoints through triangles, and centers through a circle. basically there are three main things you can create with coreldraw. create custom drawings, retouch images and photos and create text documents.

to create your drawings, you can use all tools in the third section of the toolbox. this creates lines and shapes called vectors. the freehand tool creates custom drawings, just click and drag. you can also draw straight lines by clicking twice on your workspace. the 2-point line tool draws straight-line segments, just click and drag. polyline is just like the freehand tool, except that you will go on drawing consecutive lines sharing the same last node. click and hold on to draw freehand, or click twice to fix a straight segment. double-click

on the last fixed node to finish drawing, or simply close the path. to make more complex lines and curves you can use the bã©zier, the pen, and the b-spline tool. we will see these through this guide. you can use the 3-point curve tool to create simple arcs on your document. click and drag to fix the first two points and then release your click to shape your arc as you like. just click again to draw the arc. use artistic media tool to draw freehand with a nice line style. to draw closed paths, you can use the rectangle and the ellipse tools,

just click and drag. to draw polygons and special shapes, you can use the last tool in the drawing section. depending on the tool used you can edit the line properties through the property bar on top, changing thickness, line style, endpoints and so on. in case you make a mistake, you can use ctrl+z to undo your latest action. to delete an object, enable the pick tool on the far left, and click on the object to select it. then, use the delete key to remove it.

inside coreldraw, you can also import and edit images. all you have to do is click and drag your image directly on your opened coreldraw document. these are called bitmap files. to edit and adjust your image, select it with the pick tool, and then go to the bitmaps tab in the menu bar, above. for example, you can use image adjustment lab to correct the lightness, contrast and color. you can go to straighten image to adjust perspective, rotation and lens. plus, from 3d effects onward, you can apply nice effects on your image. use ctrl+z if you want to come back to the original setting.

to learn more about how to edit and correct your images check out our related video through this guide. vectors and bitmap files are both objects drawn inside to document and can be managed and edited in the same way. select an object first by using the pick tool. several nodes will appear on it. use the nodes around to scale. click and drag to move the object inside your document. if you click once more on the object, you can skew using the double arrows and rotate the object using the double curved arrows in the corners. you can also edit the rotation point by moving

the central circle. above, through the property bar on top, you can edit other important properties, like line style and thickness for vector files. on both vectors and bitmaps you can also manage their position precisely by changing the x and y coordinates on the far left. you can also adjust size and rotation. just type in, and use enter to apply. more on the right, use the mirror buttons to flip the object. to cut, copy and paste a selected object, just use ctrl+x, ctrl+c and ctrl+v with your keyboard.

to adjust more about outline and fill, you can go to the object properties panel on the far right. you can also quickly move or copy an object by right-clicking on it and dragging it. then, just use move or copy here. in case you want to lock the object just right-click and go to lock object. in this way, until you unlock it, you won't be able to move or size it. to edit more than a single object in the same way, you can enable the pick tool and select all of them together before editing. to select more

objects together, click on each object while holding shift down. use the escape key to undo all selections instead. if you want to remove just parts of a vector file or an image just select it first and enable the eraser tool. this removes all that falls within the eraser circle. you can click and drag to erase freehand or click twice to erase following a straight direction. if you erase a closed path, its contours will be updated, but you will always have a single object. you can adjust the circle radius from the property bar on top.

remember that the eraser tool does not work on the artistic media traces. in case you need to adjust the contours of a bitmap file, you can use the shape tool instead of the eraser. just drag the corner nodes or the sides. you can also double-click on a side to add a new node to personalize the contour. coreldraw also has several tools to apply special effects. for example, inside the second button of the toolbox, you can use several tools to apply effects on vector objects and bitmap sides. just select the object first and then click and drag. use the property bar on top to customize

the effect of the tool. more below, on the toolbox, you have other advanced effects. for example to add shadow and transparency. check out our full guide to know how to apply advanced effects. coreldraw is also used to create text documents. to drop text, enable the text tool and click and drag to create a text area, indicated by a dashed contour. this is used to contain all your text inside, in order to manage it easily. remember to make the contour big enough or part of the text you type will be hidden. in these cases, the contour will be

shown in a red color. you can enlarge such contour by dragging the black and the white nodes. the text paragraph is edited in the same way seen for vectors and images. double-click inside to type in it, click and drag to move. through the property bar on top, adjust the text style, font, size and distribution. also use the object properties panel for more advanced properties. in case you have objects that do overlap, for example a piece of text below an object, you can use the object manager panel. find the text object in the list, and click and drag to pull it above the object that

covers it. when your document is finished, save it going to file and then to save as... these documents can be saved in several formats, in order to be compatible with many other software products. if you choose the .cdr format you will be able to open and edit your document and a later session of coreldraw by going to file and then to open. thanks for watching this video! check out our full guide to become advanced with coreldraw x8!

[music plays throughout] [bernie monette]uh, behind me are all the students from humber's web development program, which is an ontario post-graduate certificate. and it's our annual show, where the studentsget to show off their work to people from the industry. [brittany]we're all showcasing the works that we've made throughout the year,um, so far.

and then,we've also made the portfolio websites that these other projects will be featured on. our final project, which is our portfolio, which shows all of our other projects, i really went with a strategy of, of showing a lot of visuals. i kept the designvery, very simple and tried to keep it consistent with my resume and business cards, just so that i'd have some consistency and... and brand myself. [mila] this is the stage when, uh,we have something to demonstrate.

we are proud of our results. and we knowthat we can be noticed by someone, and it's a great, um, opportunity for us to meet someone here. and we were struggling a lot, and it w- it was even a little bit stressful, but it was worth it because now we're really good at web development. [ian] what i have to sayi enjoyed the most about this program is the fact that i came inknowing absolutely nothing

about the- how to build a website, and it kinda taught me,at a very gradual level, how to eventually get to where i am right now, which is hoping to eventually break in to the,the web development career path, which is pretty fantastic if you think about it after a year. i would say companies right now are looking for very common things, except more specific to what a developer is. so the teamwork skills,

being able to communicate your ideas thoroughly. the biggest one in this industry is actually the ability to just learn on your own. they need to know that you're able to do it as you're going, and you can keep up with the, the trends. [bernie]between 70 or 80 percent of our grads are working full-time as web developers,uh, within three months of graduating. what we hear back is that, you know, they're... the employers are able to give them work,

work that they might nothave been trained on, but they're able to take the skillsand the attitudes they've, they've learned at humberand that they've brought themselves and be able to succeed really well in the companies that they're working for. so the jobs students are gettingwhen they graduate are, these days, primarily is called front end jobs. so they're building out the,the front end interface that takes the informationfrom the database

and displays it on the screen. so it's within this realmthat we see the, the responsive design showing up, so that the design, you know, reacts to the, the size of the device that the, uh, visitor is using. or if the visitor is someone with a disability, that they cancontinue to use the device and have a great user experience, regardless of their situation. [phil]definitely every company

is looking for a website that looks goodon a mobile device, whereas maybe five years ago, that wasn't that big a deal. i think 2014 was the first year that mobile traffic actually exceeded, uh, desktop traffic. so that means more people were checking web pages on their phones. so i think that's probably the biggest thing. and that's already happening,if not, has happened already. i picked humber because i,i live in toronto, and it seemed like the best option for me in this area,

uh, for that kind of a program. [music fades out]

welcome everyone! it's jennifer. today's videois a little bit different in that i want to show you 5 different ways to add gold foilto your projects. gold foil is all the rage and there's a lot of great new products comingout. in this video i'm just going to touch on 5 different ways i've had success addinggold foil. so very quickly show you each of them. however, over the next few weeks, ifyou stay tune to my youtube channel i'll be showing cards using all of these techniques.i like some of them better than others and i'll be honest about those throughout thisvideo today. so we are going to go through all 5 ways. but first let me show you thefoil that i'll be using. i'm using deco foil from therm o web. that is what you see herein the tubes. there's a lot of it in these

little bottles. this stuff is very thin sothere is a lot in there. it comes in a lot of great colors. i'm going to use the goldfor today's video. but keep in mind that there are lots of different shiny colors you canuse. ranger also sells some foil sheets. there's less in a package. you can see their smallerhere. i've had pretty decent success with these too. so there are a few options outthere. the foil itself is very thin. so on one side it has the shiny color and on theother side it's like a matte silver. whenever you're using this you want to make sure thatthe shiny colored side is facing up. which you will see me do a lot in this video. soi'm going to go through all 5 of the techniques that i wanted to share today. i'm saving myfavorite for last. so you guys be sure to

stick around for that. first i'm going totalk about using foil with stamps. now i recommend when you using the stamps, use stamps thatare kind of forgiving. like this bird image from hero arts. it doesn't have a ton of solidarea and it's kind of sketchy. i don't know, it worked really well with this image andyou just want to play around with what stamps you may have. so i have just regular whitecard stock for all of these projects. you can use anything you want. to apply the foilin this case i'm using a product called flitterglu. i found out about this from the sweet folksover at simon says stamp. this is great for using gold flakes and it works pretty wellwith golf foil too. so what i do is i squeeze a bunch of it on my craft sheet or my worksurface. then i take a clean ink blend tool

with foam and i absorb all of that glue upinto the foam. you can it just kind of sucked it up. now i have basically like a littleminiature ink pad with the glue in it. if you don't have an ink blending tool like thatwith the foam you could use a make-up applicator. so now i'm just going to just kind of dabthis on to my stamp. you can see i make sure that it is covered completely. this stuffis very sticky. i'm just going to stamp this onto my paper. then immediately clean offthis stamp. i think they recommend dunking your stamp in water to make sure that it comesoff. whatever you do you want to make sure you clean it off. so now i'm laying the foildown with the silver side down. the gold side up. i'm just kind of pressing there. you cansee that it's sticking there on to the glue.

now i find that i get best results if i flipit over and use my bone folder to really rub that into place. just to kind of stick itthere so it doesn't shift when we do our next step. so i'm making sure that i press allaround. now i'm going to flip it over and do the same directly on the foil. you cansee i'm kind of pulling all in the same direction. you can start to notice that it kind of transferson to the adhesive that we stamped in place. you can see your image kind of popping up.so i'm just rubbing right across. this foil is pretty tough. it can handle the pressurethat we're putting on. check it out. you see all the foil transfer on to our image. itis just beautiful. now i would recommend playing around with different stamps and see whichones work best for you. you can use that glue

on your clear stamps if you clean it off rightaway. check out that pretty shine you get. it's not perfectly smooth because you usedan adhesive to apply the foil. but it is just beautiful and a lot shiner than you wouldget with heat embossing. check it out. you can use the negative space of your foil onanother project if you want to. just glue it right on to a project i think it wouldbe beautiful. now you can see the gold shine that you can get using your stamps. if you'rewondering about using this technique with other liquid glues, i would encourage youto give it a try. i do know that this flitterglu is very sticky so it does work very well forthis technique, but you could try what you have on hand. next the second technique i'mgoing to show is how you can use your foil

with your dies. i really like this technique.this one's fun. i did it for this large hello you see here. now there are a few a differentproducts you can use to stick your foil in place. i highly recommend this stick it product.this is a newer product. it is super super super thin double sided adhesive that's greatfor die cutting. now you'll see it's so thin you can almost see through it, even with therelease paper of both sides. on one of the sides there are little folds in the releasepaper, so it's easy to kind of peel it off. so i'm going to place that down. so that sidegoes down on to my die cut machine and then i'm going to put my die on top of this. sowe are not actually sticking this to card stock. we are just sending it through ourdie cut machine. with the die as it is coming

out of the package. i love the stick it stuff.so, now we have basically a large sticky die cut here. now, this is thin again, so youwant to be kind of careful when you're doing this. take my die cut out and lay it ontomy work surface. now, since this is so thin here's a trick that makes it so easy to workwith thin die cuts like this. i just take some post-it tape and i just put it rightacross the die cut. this will kind of hold it in place so we can pick it up and moveit around. so i'm just going to rub that right onto there. now i can flip it over and removethe release paper on the back side of our die cut here. you could try this techniquewith any die cuts you have. i wouldn't go super thin, like super detailed die cuts, because the the stick-it product is very thin.

but you can try it with any dies that youmay have. so now i'm going to pick this up and just place it right onto my card wherei want it. you can see how easy it was to pick it up thanks to the post-it tape. nowthis is really important. you want to take your bone folder and really press all of thathello word down. you want that as flat as you can get it on to your card stock. youwant to make sure it's really stuck there. really really really well. then you can goahead and take your post-it tape and pull that off, as you do that it actually willremove the release paper on the other side. so that you can see that release paper comeright off. now we have the word hello there. you can see it just barely, but it's stickyand ready for the foil. i'll take my foil

and put the shiny side up right on to my project.i forgot to trim my foil down before i brought it over. you might want to do that, so youcan kind of conserve your foil. then i'm going to again as always flip it over and rub thefoil in with my bone folder. if you don't have a bone folder anything that has a flatedge that you can rub across it. like maybe a credit card would work for that. now i decidedto trim off that extra and save it for my next project. now i'm going to take the bonefolder right over the area where my die cut is. you can see it starts to transfer. thisis fantastic because you can see through it. you can be sure that the foil has transferredto the whole image before you peel it up. so you're able to tell you've got it all complete.so after you've rubbed it down. this is the

magic. this is like the wow! you peel it upand look how beautiful that is. i just love it. now it is not as smooth of a foil lookas you'll get with my favorite technique, number 5, which i'll show you in a bit. butit is stunning and a lot shinier than you can get with heat embossing. a lot smootherthat heat embossing and it is flat, because that double sided tape is so thin. if youhave other double sided tapes you could try that, by all means, and it should work. ijust like the stick it because it is super thin. think of all the things that you candie cut and create foil backgrounds with or foil words or anything you want. it's a greatway to stretch your dies. so the first technique shows stretching your stamps with foil andthis was with the dies. the next technique

is using your foil with your adhesive or withyour tapes. this is super easy. i think it would be something would be great for a backgroundor kind of a border effect on your projects. so for this i'm using a double sided tapefrom be creative. it comes in all kinds of widths here and i am just going to take thisthin, i think this is a 1/8 of an inch and i'm just going to put stripes across my card.so you could die cut this stuff if you had the big sheets of this be creative, becauseit comes in sheet form. but here i just wanted to show you how easy it was to take any doublesided tape put stripes down on your card and then add the foil to it. if you have a taperunner, you could even put a strip of your adhesive from the tape runner across yourcard and then add the foil to it. i know some

companies have come out with shaped littleadhesive stars and stuff that you can put to your cards and you can use the foil withthose also. so i used my bone folder on the back of the card and now i'm going to thefront. this took a little bit more work to transfer all the foil on to the tape, butyou could see right through it and know that it's transferred. there you have your foilstripes. now these are a little bit raised because of the thickness of the tape, butstill is quite beautiful. it's just something that you can quickly add to your projectsand it doesn't use up much of the foil at all. i encourage you to look around your craftroom, because i bet you have an adhesive that would be fun to use with foil. okay, so thefourth technique is to use foil with stencils.

i was determined to come up with a way touse my foils with my stencils, because i'm also currently addicted to using stencilsthese days. this technique is really fun. so i'm using a new stencil from tim holtz.i just love this flourish stencil. i'm going to tape it onto some white card stock here.by the way i know that some of these techniques with the foils work on fabric, so i encourage you to checkout all the different things you can use the foil on fabrics with also. so i'm just goingto make sure that this is taped well in place. now i am using a spray adhesive over thisstencil to add my foil. i just grabbed this old spray adhesive i have. i don't know ifthey make this particular one anymore, but i would check out any kind of spray adhesivethat you may have and just give it a try and

see if it works for you. so what i did isi took this outside and i gave it a quick spritz to make sure that i covered all theopen area with the spray adhesive. now i ended up trimming my white paper a little shorterbecause i put my thumb right in it and messed it up. so that is why the paper is a littlesmaller here. then i just went ahead and pressed my foil right on to it. it wasn't completelydry and it seemed to be okay. then i again will press it from the back side and theni'll flip it over and rub right on top of the foil itself. i've found that this. youreally want to make sure you rub this well, because it doesn't have as much adhesive asnormal. now, here you'll see that i actually cut this down. the reason i did that is becausei wanted to try running it through my laminator,

which you'll see in technique number 5. buti cut it apart so i could try half of it through the laminator and half just rubbing it onwith a bone folder. you can see you get good results wither way. i think running it throughthe laminator helps to kind of press it into place. the one on the right is done with thelaminator, which i'm going to show you in a moment. check out that cool effect thatyou can get with your stencils also. so the foil is fun because you can use to with yourdies, your stamps and even your stencils. check out the fun shine that you get. so nowwe are on the 5th technique which is by far my favorite. i warn you this seems a littleintimating at first but i promise it isn't so just stick with me here. this is usingfoil with print outs. now to do this you need

to have some sort of laser printer. i havea very inexpensive black and white laser printer here at home. i'll link to the one that iuse. if you don't have a laser printer. if you don't have a laser printer you can takeit to kinko's. you need anything that prints with toner to do this technique. you alsoneed a laminator. now that sounds intimidating. i have a very inexpensive laminator here.this is very inexpensive. i had one for a long time i couldn't find it to be honestwith you so i just bought this new one and it works very well. all you got to do is turnit on and let it heat up and you're ready to go with adding foil. check out how easythis is. just take a piece of typing paper and fold it in half. this is what you kindof send your project through the laminator

with. i have a piece that i printed with mylaser printer. this happens to be my daughters valentine's. again if you don't have a laserprinter, just take this to kinko’s and they can print it and you'll be good to go. youjust need toner for this to work. it is amazing how well it works. i promise i promise. nowi am going to take my foil and i'm just going to put it on top of here face down and runthis through my laminator. it is almost magical. so i'm just going to take this layer righton top. put it inside of my folded piece of paper and put this in the laminator. the laminatorslowly pulls this through. takes just a couple minutes. it slowly pulls it through. putspressure and heat on to it, so you can transfer that foil onto your project. you can see itmoving through. while this moves through i

wanted to show you some other examples i did.check out the detail that i got here. i just printed this background from studio calicoon to some card stock and then put the foil on top. now these cards i'm showing you hereare part of a video that i'll have coming up very soon to show you how much you cando with printing out your own images and running it through s laminator. here's a birthdaycard that i did that has a couple different colors of foil on it. so i think these resultsare so fantastic and so fast to do. so it's definitely worth it to get something printedwith a laser printer and run it through the laminator. okay so i let it cool just fora second, peel it off and check that out. bam! super super awesome! it is smooth ascan be, shiny as can be. definitely the best

results of all of the techniques. so veryfast to do. i did all my daughter's valentine's in 45 minutes this way. now, one thing i reallywant to mention is of all these techniques this one is the most durable. you can scratchand the foil doesn't come off. with all the adhesive techniques that i showed you it doesscratch a little bit if you scratch it like with your fingernail you can scratch the foila little bit. it's not a problem i'll still send cards that way, but you definitely getthe best results using print outs and a laminator. another great thing about this technique ismany companies have free downloads that you can use to just print out and do your foiling.i’ll link to lots of those in the future. now i do want to mention again that i havea lot more to come. i'm going to be showing

lots of videos with techniques using foilover the next few weeks. also, heidi swapp has a product called the mink machine andit is a machine that is used to add foil and it's supposed to be a fantastic machine withlots of perks. as soon as i'm able to get my hands on one i will definitely be showingyou that too. so be sure to stay tuned for that. now if you're interested in any of theproducts i use i link below in my youtube description or you can head over to my blogfor much more information. be sure to subscribe so you can see the foiling videos that i'llbe doing over the next few weeks. thanks again for stopping by and i really appreciate youtaking the time out of your day to spend with me.

john: hey, john sonmez from simpleprogrammer.com.i got a question here about nanodegrees. this is something that is a new kind of conceptfrom udacity is where i'm seeing these. this kind of begs a bigger question about likethe online degrees, online kind of programs and the usefulness of them. this questionis from paul and paul says, “hey, john. thanks again for posting all the resourcesand tips that really encourages me. i wanted to get your thoughts on the udacity nanodegrees.there are 3 individuals who have just finished the degree and have obtained jobs, the firstfew that signed up for them all from different life circumstances.” he links to this blogposthere that talks about internships that people are in from these nanodegrees. there’s thearticle.

“the course that udacity offers are free, but the project they guide you through to get the degrees are not. i just want to hearyour thoughts or maybe a video since this could be an option for many. thanks again, paul.” a little bit of background on what these nanodegrees, this udacity thing is. essentially, it’s like an online degree. it’s not like aslarge as a 4-year degree program or anything like that, but it’s a little bit—it’sbasically a certification but maybe a little bit stronger than a certification. udacityallows you to take classes online in software development topics and they’re a littlebit more formalized. they’re sort of like this mix between a hybrid or between a classroomlearning in a totally just online training

type of thing. they’re a little bit morerigid and have projects and whatnot, and it could carry a little bit more credential.i think they’re a good idea. i think that the traditional education system is goingto fail. actually, interestingly enough, someone expressed this better than i could ever expressthis. i was just reading the book antifragile. in the book, the author, he says—someoneasked him. i think they sent an email or sent him a letter and said something about, “whatdo you think about traditional education?” because he’s talking about the fragilityof systems. they wanted to know like what does he think is going to happen with traditionaleducation. he said, “bullshit is fragile.” what that means is basically that he thinksthat the system will collapse because it’s

based on bs, and i totally agree. i thinkall of the academic systems that we have today are complete bs, just the academic societyin general. it’s a lot of bs. when i see things like these online degreeswhere people are actually doing projects and actually accomplishing things and they’renot being reamed for tens of thousands of dollars, so someone with a prestigious titlecan tell them how to think in a very uniform way and be a robot like everyone else, i likethose things. i can’t speak for this program myself because i haven’t gone through thisprogram. i don’t know what it entails. i don’t know what degree. i can just say,in general, online education is good because it puts more the focus on learning things,on actual doing rather than getting just some

knowledge in your head or just making it througha thing, right? they key thing is always going to come downto this and i'm always going to say this. i'm always going to say this to my blog post,is that you need to actually do and learn, right? it doesn’t matter if you get a degree.it doesn’t matter if you get a certification. none of that stuff matters. what matters iswhen you sit in front of a computer, if you’re trying a job as a computer programmer, canyou program? can you do it? can you think? specifically, i would ask, “do you knowhow to teach yourself to self-educate to be able to improve your skills on your own ordo you need someone to spoon-feed you information?” if you need someone to spoon-feed you information, you’re going to be in trouble because whatever

i spoon-feed you today is not going to begood for tomorrow, right? you’re going to have figure out how you develop and learnyour own skills. how do you develop yourself and continuously improve yourself over time?all that is basically to say, yes, i like this. i don’t know about this exact degreeprogram, but i like this idea. i like the idea of breaking out traditional education.i like the idea of getting rid of these longstanding kind of gatekeepers for education systemsand saying, okay, there’s a better way. what we want to focus on is actually learningand that we don’t care about where the thing comes from that. accreditation is not so important.when it comes down to it, can someone actually do the work? can they actually accomplishtheir goals? can they actually achieve what

needs to be done, right?at the end of the day, business is to hire programmers not to be theoretical and to beprestigious but to write code. can you write code? can you write good code that can bemaintained? if you can do that, if you’re doing something that’s going to teach youto be able to do that, that’s what’s valuable. seek the things that are valuable and therest will follow, because you can have credentials and you can have all these things and thatmight get your foot in the door. when you go down to an interview or even pass that, when you actually sit down at your job and actually have to do your job, if you can’tdo it, you can’t bs that. you can’t fake that like you’ve got to actually be ableto do it and that’s what’s going to—in

the long run, that’s going to be what’simportant. focus on those things are going to be investments in the long term.anyway, good question. i'm definitely curious to see where this goes with udacity and thesenanodegrees. i’ll be following it. thanks again, paul. if you have a question, you canalways email at john@simpleprogrammer.com. as always, subscribe to the channel and you’llget more videos just like this one. take care.

in this brief chapter i’m going to showyou recommended minimum requirements of things to place inside a website - in order to makeit work. i’ll explain using 3 common types of websitesas examples. we’ll focus on ushering users through eachsite, in order to perform a certain action or complete a goal. this information relatesdirectly to the principles taught in our class called “first thing’s first: plan yourwebsite content”, where we discussed starting with goals to help shape our site content.be sure to review chapters 2 and 3 of that class. the most common type of website provides information for site visitors. the main goal of a website visitor is to get in touch. to contact thebusiness.

here are the main things to consider whencreating a site intended to provide information: when considering how many pages to include, think about the needs of the visitors. a 5-page website is a good place to start.in addition to the homepage, you could include an about page, a services page to explainwhat the business or organization provides, maybe an faq page and a contact page.if you’re just interested in a basic online presence, to show you exist and let visitorsget in touch, you may want to stick with a simple “one-pager” site, otherwise knownas “deep scroll”. this is a popular trend in web design, where instead of a traditionalmulti-page site structure the bulk of the content is broken into vertical sections onone page. this option is perfect for those

who don’t wish to provide lots of contentto the website visitors. we’ll return to “deep scroll” sites in a later video when we discuss“trends”. no matter how many pages you go with - makeit easy for website visitors to get in touch! include a phone number and address or justa contact form. if you’re looking to sell products fromyour website, check out our class on ecommerce for a look at what this involves. settingup an online store takes careful planning and preparation, which we explain in thatclass. for now, here are some basic tips for buildingwebsites from which you can sell products: provide a comfortable and familiar shoppingexperience by including common ecommerce elements

like a gallery of product images, a shoppingcart and a checkout button. it’s disorienting to shop online when you can’t find thesecommon items you expect to be there. add a section to the homepage for new arrivals, sales and other promotions. you can link these sections to dedicated pages you can add asyou need. focus on building trust for users with reviews, customer testimonials, faq pages, press, and contact forms for visitors to connect to thebusiness directly. maintain and update the content regularly.updating inventory with the latest products available and keeping all product info andother site content fresh and relevant. finally, think about future promotional efforts.don’t forget to include social media links

and a way to sign up for the newsletter, ifthere will be one. finally, there are sites offering somethingin between providing information, and selling products. these sites offer different or extra forms of interaction. for example, perhaps you wantvisitors to fill out a survey, answer questions or become members of a community.here are some design tips: for a site with a deeper user experience orlevel of interaction in mind, think about exactly what you want the website to do.then, see if you can find an app for it in the wix app market!make sure the design encourages visitors to complete your intended goal.

of course there are other types of websites.but these are the three most popular options in terms of what they do. now let’s shift our focus onto things abit more...visually stimulating? our next chapter focuses on making your site look asimpressive as possible.

[natalie gabriel] public artalways has really fascinated me. i think it's really a contrastbetween being a fine art major, where you're sort of making these personal pieces, and they may go in someone's home. you may keep them. but if you're doing something publically, people that you don't even know, across all walks of life, are passing it day-to-day. [therese morgan] and the environmentreally affects people around them. if they're in a beautiful place, and they're excited, they're motivated. if there's trash everywhereand everything is run down,

then it's hard to feel that excitement. so murals really bring life to a community. [michael petricca] the mural was somethingthat we thought would highlight the move of fire engine 1to their new location over here on folsom st. we believe they'rethe best firehouse in the city. they're the busiestfirefighting station in the city, and we wanted to commemorate that moveby offering them a mural. [chris austin] the mural depictsthe past and the present of the san francisco fire department.

we've got old firehouses, old fire engines, and we also have newer enginesin the new firehouse. it's kind of the past and present combined. [danny gracia] we interactwith everybody in the community. we go out the door about40 times a day here between the three rigs, and we deal withall different types of people from all over. and for us to deal with the artists, it's great. the fact that we kind of memorializedfour of our members, taking pictures of them and thentransferring that, doing the artwork up there.

it's just super cool, and like i said,we're really excited about the whole thing. [natalie gabriel] the fire department gets to enjoy something a little more aestheticin their day-to-day workplace, and they have this mural by the end of itthat they get to keep, and sort of brighten up their day. [michael petricca] people can see firsthandhow talented our students and staff are. that they really can paint.they really can perform at a very high level. and there's a wow factor in what they do. they're well taught, they're well respected, and they can do fine art.

[music] this is one of the technical electives forthe bioengineering students at mason. and this is a class in partnershipwith inova hospital. >> the best part of this classis that it's very hands-on. you get to work one-on-onewith the doctors and get to work with some of the equipmentthat's used in real life. >> we have a patient right now withan implant to control her seizure. the students get to talk to the patientand understand how the technology works. >> the second lab is we actually hookthe students up to an eeg monitor

to measure their brainwaves. well bioengineering, especially in the neuroscience area,it really is the future. >> it's pretty difficult, just like every other engineering, like electrical and mechanical. but i think the rewards are just that muchbetter because you know you're really, actually helping people with theirhealth and with their lives. >> if you like engineering and youare looking for opportunities to learn and grow, this is definitely the place whereyou can get classroom experience and

hands-on experience. >> innovation has to start somewhere. by getting these students andby priming their mind, if you will, to new ideas and to applications, they come up with ideas that will ultimately lead to clinicaltechnologies that affect patients. so the process really starts here.

translator: joseph genireviewer: morton bast i have spent my entire life either at the schoolhouse,on the way to the schoolhouse, or talking about what happensin the schoolhouse. (laughter) both my parents were educators, my maternal grandparents were educators, and for the past 40 years,i've done the same thing. and so, needless to say, over those years

i've had a chanceto look at education reform from a lot of perspectives. some of those reforms have been good. some of them have been not so good. and we know why kids drop out. we know why kids don't learn. it's either poverty, low attendance, negative peer influences... we know why.

but one of the thingsthat we never discuss or we rarely discuss is the value and importanceof human connection. relationships. james comer saysthat no significant learning can occur withouta significant relationship. george washington carver says all learning is understanding relationships. everyone in this room has been affectedby a teacher or an adult.

for years, i have watched people teach. i have looked at the bestand i've looked at some of the worst. a colleague said to me one time, "they don't pay me to like the kids. they pay me to teach a lesson. the kids should learn it. i should teach it, they should learn it, case closed." well, i said to her,

"you know, kids don't learnfrom people they don't like." (applause) she said, "that's just a bunch of hooey." and i said to her, "well, your year is going to belong and arduous, dear." needless to say, it was. some people think that you can eitherhave it in you to build a relationship, or you don't. i think stephen covey had the right idea.

he said you ought to justthrow in a few simple things, like seeking first to understand, as opposed to being understood. simple things, like apologizing. you ever thought about that? tell a kid you're sorry, they're in shock. i taught a lesson once on ratios. i'm not real good with math, but i was working on it. and i got back and lookedat that teacher edition.

i'd taught the whole lesson wrong. so i came back to classthe next day and i said, "look, guys, i need to apologize. i taught the whole lesson wrong.i'm so sorry." they said, "that's okay, ms. pierson. you were so excited, we just let you go." i have had classes that were so low, so academically deficient, that i cried. i wondered, "how am igoing to take this group,

in nine months, from where they areto where they need to be? and it was difficult, it was awfully hard. how do i raise the self-esteem of a child and his academic achievementat the same time? one year i came up with a bright idea. i told all my students, "you were chosen to be in my class because i am the best teacher

and you are the best students, they put us all together so we could showeverybody else how to do it." one of the students said, "really?" i said, "really. we haveto show the other classes how to do it, so whenwe walk down the hall, people will notice us,so you can't make noise. you just have to strut." and i gave them a saying to say:

"i am somebody. i was somebody when i came. i'll be a better somebody when i leave. i am powerful, and i am strong. i deserve the education that i get here. i have things to do, people to impress, and places to go." and they said, "yeah!" you say it long enough,

it starts to be a part of you. i gave a quiz, 20 questions. a student missed 18. i put a "+2" on his paperand a big smiley face. he said, "ms. pierson, is this an f?" i said, "yes." he said, "then why'd youput a smiley face?" i said, "because you're on a roll. you got two right.you didn't miss them all."

i said, "and when we review this, won't you do better?" he said, "yes, ma'am, i can do better." you see, "-18" sucksall the life out of you. "+2" said, "i ain't all bad." for years, i watched my mothertake the time at recess to review, go on home visits in the afternoon, buy combs and brushesand peanut butter and crackers to put in her desk drawerfor kids that needed to eat, and a washcloth and some soapfor the kids who didn't smell so good.

see, it's hard to teach kids who stink. and kids can be cruel. and so she kept those things in her desk, and years later, after she retired, i watched some of thosesame kids come through and say to her, "you know, ms. walker, you made a difference in my life. you made it work for me. you made me feel like i was somebody,

when i knew, at the bottom, i wasn't. and i want you to justsee what i've become." and when my mama died two years ago at 92, there were so many formerstudents at her funeral, it brought tears to my eyes, not because she was gone, but because she lefta legacy of relationships that could never disappear. can we stand to have more relationships? absolutely.

will you like all your children?of course not. and you know your toughestkids are never absent. never. you won't like them all, and the tough ones show up for a reason. it's the connection.it's the relationships. so teachers becomegreat actors and great actresses, and we come to workwhen we don't feel like it, and we're listening to policythat doesn't make sense,

and we teach anyway. we teach anyway, because that's what we do. teaching and learning should bring joy. how powerful would our world be if we had kids who werenot afraid to take risks, who were not afraid to think, and who had a champion? every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them,

who understands the power of connection, and insists that they becomethe best that they can possibly be. is this job tough? you betcha. oh god, you betcha. but it is not impossible. we can do this. we're educators. we're born to make a difference. thank you so much.

welcome back to another video my name is adamfrom wpcrafter.com were i make wordpress videos for non-techies and non-coders and in thisvideo me to do something special i been using this new page builder called elementor andi made a few videos on it but i'm actually to show you how i was using this yesterdayi was testing one of the pro modules now if you're not familiar with elementor it's afree full-featured page building plug-in for wordpress you can create some amazing thingsin fact a couple days ago they released a new feature to give you the option to addgradients to different elements and i'll be showing you that in this video but they alsohave a pro version that add some additional features to the plug-in and one of those featuresis the ability to add forms so i was using

it and i just felt inspired to see what theplug-in could do and after about 45 minutes i was able to almost completely re-createthe digital ocean website now digital oceans websites beautiful website you see you gotthis beautiful blue gradient a very stylish contact form here where you can create anaccount and it just blends into the background right here you have a really nice style thefuture grid right here with six different features and then you have this differenttype of pricing grid and that was going to be a challenge and then you have a call toaction down here that i created someone to see how far i could go in creating this websitewith zero code skills and zero code that anyone can do see if i can do it myself using elementorand elementor pro and this is what i came

up with so you see i've got that beautifulgradients and i've got this a form right here i got a feature grid and i've got that pricetable pretty spot on by the way i got there price table and then this final call to actionnow it took me about 45 minutes to create this in one of my doing this videos i'm actuallygoing to create it now normally i am in all my videos you can see me right now in thetop right and actually get rid of that so we can just focus on the how to build thispage with elementor now there is one caveat you can do almost all of it with the freeversion of elementor but there's two things you can't do with the free version becausethere only features found in the pro version so you've got this form here elementor prohas the most powerful visual form creator

and styler that i have ever seen there's nothinglike this and that's part of the pro package and then this pricing table right here thisfully customized pricing table this is only available in the pro version as well to beable to come up with a highly customizable pricing table like you see here which is prettyspot on in every way and you need the pro version for this as well now the programmersis not that much money they have different licensing options i do have a link down belowand here's the best part when you click on my link to purchase elementor pro not onlyare you going to get an amazing plug-in you're going to get to support these developers thathave been so generous with the free version but i'm also going to give you access to acourse that i've created called elementor

essentials and so you're going to learn mycomplete website building system using elementor and it is going to save you time it's goingto cut down your learning curve and is can help you to get amazing results in buildinga webpage for your self that you can be impressed by so that is elementor pro and my specialoffer there is a link down below and i wanted to give you get the last thing i want to mentionbefore i go is that elementor has an amazing template library that gives me the abilityto export this template and i can give it to anyone is this the file and then you wouldimport that so i'm also going to provide a link down below there's no sign-ups no anythingis just the link and you can download this file and you can import it into your templatelibrary if you want to see exactly what i

did to create this beautiful beautiful webpageright here now and the last thing is i'm not suggesting you go and copy websites verbatimno one has a copyright on color schemes and font schemes and overall layout obviouslyit's not a good idea to take someone's images very not is not a good idea at all is nota good idea to take someone's icons these are all right this is kinda new for me i'm usedto being in every video but that's all right this is a learning time to learn exactly howwe can re-create any webpage that we see on the internet almost exactly so let's go aheadand get started so i'm assuming that you already have hosting if you do not have hosting youcan visit order new hosting.com and it will

take you over to inmotion hosting and thisis the page you'll see you'll see a picture of me there and this is a special discountthat they give to my viewers here on youtube so the normally they might have a 20% offer30% off when there's a sale but for my viewers you're going to get 57% off and it is justwhen you visit order new hosting.com and you can go ahead and order your hosting packagefrom them it's very awesome reliable fast hosting and it's very affordable all theirsupport is us-based and you can call him when you need help you can live chat them and youcan open a ticket so anyways here is wordpress that i've already installed elementor andi've also installed elementor pro now elementor's easy would just go to plug-ins add new andyou can install elementor that way and then

if you purchased elementor pro you can downloadit from your members area and you can upload that yourself and then activate it so i'mgoing to start so before i begin there are two tools that i will be using most likelythroughout this video and if they are called web browser extensions now i'm currently usingthe google chrome web browser but they are also available for firefox if you are usingfirefox and these tools and allow you to guaranteed these are custom icons here i'm not sayingthat you definitely don't want to take peoples text and i'm not suggesting any of that iwas just using this as an example to show you the power of elementor pro and that anyonethat that wants to build a website can do it without touching a line of code it justtakes having the right tool and having the

right training and you'll get both of thosewith elementor pro and the link down below so anyways i'm going to take off and workingto start building this webpage analyze a webpage and this one right here will basically letyou know any color that you see on any webpage and this one right here is gonna let me knowany font on any webpage in the size so let me show you that an action so here i am onthe real digital ocean website and so the color extension right here is called colorzealous he could just google color zillah and then the name your web browser and i'msure the extension will pull right up so the way works as i clicked on it and then i choosepick color from page and i can go like this and it will show me any color on it on a pagethat i'm on so here's that little bit of a

green right there let's see if i can go onand there's a green here's the blue the different shades of the blue and what happens is wheni click on my mouse and scan a copy of the color code into the clipboard of my computerand then i can paste it into elementor wherever i want to put that color so that is colorzillah the other one is called what fonts and you could just search for what font chromeextension or what font firefox extension and when you click on this anywhere you move yourmouse it's gonna show you the name of the font and the size so i'm showing that thisis proxima nova now i do know that proxima nova is a paid font when i click on it isgoing to show me as a says type kit but that's okay really use an alternative font but what'snice is i'm able to see the size of the font

right here and sometimes the weight is justsaying its regular which is fine but i can scroll anywhere on over any font and see exactlythe size of this is going to be smaller in seat 16 pixels the fontweight is 600 so workingto be able to use those values to try to re-create a similar font scheme not using the same fontthough but for a similar size and weight it'll work out fine and that we can basically hoverover anything severe and i want these two tools and i would go ahead and recommend youinstall it so right away what i'm going to do is create this section and when you lookat any webpages just a series of sections that have column so when i am looking at thisi see a section with the gradient blue in the background i see two columns what yousee right here and what you see right here

in this is just some text and a form of fieldand a little bit more text and this is just simply an image and when i look here i seeanother section with a full column here that is just given me a headline and then i seethese three columns right here each one has an image headline and a little bit of textand then i see a duplicated and then when i scroll down it's the same thing we havea headline i am not going to be able to re-create this switcher right here so when you clickon this it toggles the way they charge i'm knocking to be able to re-create that so buti am to be able to re-create everything that you see in this pricing grid and this canbe pretty close and then i'm going to skip this map it just an image and this is justa series of images you can see is just one

big thing of images on the skip that and i'lldo this final call to action and so your to get the point so right off the bat thoughi'm going to tell you this form section right here in elementor it requires the pro versionso let's just go ahead and get started some to go to pages anima to add a new page andlet's just call this digital ocean i write and i am using the generate press theme willalso have a link down below to it it's free but they have an add-on package that givesme the option to disable some elements on the page so just for cleanliness and to disablethe header the navigation m actually disable all of these because i just want to look atthe page builder and i need to go here in choose content no sidebar so that's lettingjerry press know that i am working with the

page builder and i've got a check on thisbox so now when i click on publish and then i click on edit with elementor like this it'sbeen open up elementor and it's just a blank completely blank slate and that's fine solet's get started on the first add a new section and artie know it's gonna be a two columnsection like this so now i have these faint two columns are right here so i already knowthat i'm good have an image here so why don't i just first search for image and let's justget that in there real quick some of the drag-and-drop that over let go and then when i click righthere a minute delete the placeholder click on the plus and i have that image right hereis a matter fact i've already uploaded it by the way summary click on insert and wecan see there is my image now right here i

already know working to have a headline andthere were never form and number and have some text so let's go ahead and do that rightnow so my click right here and then here's my heading some in a drag-and-drop that'sand then i'm in a click right here again and i'm in a scroll down to the pro element andi'm going to choose the form animal to put that right underneath the heading elementsand then right underneath here i'm going to put instead of a heading element for thatlittle bit of text i'm talking about this little bit right here i'm in a go ahead anduse the text editor for that and let's get that dropped right there okay so now whati'd like to do is get the background looking right in this section so when i hover overany of these elements here you see this option

here for sections only click on that and it'sgonna say edit section so the first thing i want to want to do is click on style andwe have all these great background options now for me i'm in use the gradient optionwhich is right here and what a gradient is i even made a video on this yesterday youneed to colors now they are using a gradient here you can see all the way on the top rightit's a lighter blue than it is on the bottom left so i'm in use my color picker now toget this exact number to get a close enough so that you get the point so many choose pickfrom color picker and then i want to go to the very bottom here and i'm in a click andthat's gonna put that color code into my clipboard number and go back here to elementor and sohere's the first color of the gradient click

right here and i'm going to paste that inso there you see we've got the first color of this background now i'm in a go and i'mto get this lighter blue right here now this is and can be an exact science like i saidso there you go it's just a little lighter and let me click this to make that collapseand then right here i'm going to put the lighter blue in just paste it in like that so youcan see we have it now if we want to make it similar to how it is here working haveto tweak it so it's darker here in lighter there so let's play around with these settingsreal quick summary go from linear to radio and then i'm going to have it go to the let'ssee how about the bottom left let's see if that does it and i think that actually didit so i'm have to put some spacing so we can

better see it and change the colors of thesefonts but working up probably have to play around with these just a little bit thesetoggle switches here in order to get it just right you see that eric i think that's actuallyprobably perfect so first let's put a little bit of space between these elements in thetop and the bottom since were already in the section so we have this bit of space herein this bit of space here looks equal some to play around with the spacing here it'scalled padding in the advanced tab to see if i can get close to that some to go to paddingright here i'm good have to click on this this little link right here to and went whenit's that when it's highlighted and you increase one it increases them all and that's not whati want i just want to increase the top and

the bottom there so i'm thinking the top mightbe 80 pixels so when i hit 80 and that looks close maybe a little more than is there solet's actually go with 70 i think that's pretty close and then for the bottom i want to put70 as well and when you're in elementor you can always click on this little tab here topreview what it looks like so you can see that i'm i'm pretty close actually littletweaking to lighten up the color on the bottom left here so let's go ahead and play withthat a little some to go back to style and let's see want to play around with these littlebit just the very goats lightning up a bit okay that's actually looking very close rightthere alright so now i've got my spacing i think that i need to have a little bit ofpadding in this column on the left and right

to kinda squeeze it in a little bit and maybehere as well to to make the image a little smaller so let's do this column first summitclick here it says column and him click on advanced animal to do the padding again i'mgoing to click on this little link and for the left and the right time and it just playaround with it may be maybe 25 or 30 on each side let's see here okay so let's go likethat she can see it's it's tightening up maybe just a bit more maybe i will go a little tighterlet's see what would 50 looks like see 50 okay that's going to be fine so i'm righthere and i'm going to highlight and copy this little bit of text and i want to go to theheading here in a minute pasted in just like that now let's first make that font colorwhite so working to do that in the style and

then the text color a minute she was hereand then i'm a go to white so there we have it now the font here is a lot thicker andit's a little more spaced out here so let's see if we can get close to that now here'sone of things i don't like about elementor in that's when you're using the heading elementsi can hit as many enters as possible here in it doesn't reflect there it's not madeto do that you actually have to put a little bit of html and it's simple whenever you wantto\ you put bracket br bracket like that and thenit will put it on a\ like that such a little elementor tip forpeople that aren't used to coating and i said that would be very minimal coding in thistutorial so let's play around with the style

some more and see if we can get it closerso i'm a new turn on the topography options and this is can allow me to customize thetopography right here so first let's try to get the size someone ago i go this actuallyi think let's just do this for speed to go into what font and see what size it was alreadyknow it's a 4040 pixels there so i'm in a go to 40 just like this okay and now i wantto make the weight leiter sewed so thick right here let's let's change that something isprobably about 500 or 400 let's see 400 so it's a little better actually maybe just thetwo had bit lighter but i think 300 makes a little too thin actually i think were goingto go with 300 looks pretty close considering were not using a different font so the lineheight was set to 50 let's first click on

the right here it says px and then let's seeif we can go up to 50 and see if we like how that looks so there is a 50 and i guess it'spretty close let's see so there it is cloud computing designed for developers and let'sexit what font it looks close enough to me alright so you can see the differences inthe font that were using so let's go ahead and open this up a little bit now let's starttweaking our form here and like i said earlier that elementor is the only visual form builderthat i've ever experienced that allows you to build the form and style the form visuallyso one of my dues on my click on the element right here and now i have the option so ijust can ask for name and email i don't want message, click on the x and you see that madethat go away now also many get rid of these

field titles right here there called the labelson the click right there to get rid of the labels so were already getting closer to itnow we just need to changes some of these styling options to get it to look similarto here so we have a white button we have a white border we have this very transparentbut it's slightly you can see a slight hint on it this font is whites and let's see ifwe can get it pretty close to that song go ahead and take that color code again usuallyi will make a note pad and put these color codes in it so i don't have to keep usingthe color picker alright so work to spend most of our time in the style options butlet's go right hero quick and i want to click on the submit button and change what it saysmma could say create an account i just want

to match the text there to make it say createan account now when you are creating a form you want to go to this option here email andoptions you want to put your email address in the said this is where the submissionsto this form and to go to and you also want to put in your subject line and all this kindother information right there so let's go to our style options and a first of all let'ssee i don't want the form styling let's look at the field so the text color is going tobe white so i can choose the option why right here now we can see because the backgroundsalso white and the topography will see if we have to play around with that the backgroundis white but working to make it transparent so go all the way down but up just a tad tadbecause i think it was a long handle a slight

tint to it there we go so many do that andthe border color i am going to make a border animate to make that white now let's see ifi need to make it any thicker want to go here k years digital ocean and then hears us soit looks right is pretty close now i'm in a go ahead and start playing around with thatbutton and seeing if we can get that pretty close so now my new go into the styling ofthe button and let's go ahead and make the color of the text what i copied in my clipboardwhich is that deep blue and then i'm going to want to change the background color towhites and it looks like we are getting there we are pretty close now so when i go herewe can see if it looks pretty close to me so now let me go ahead and put this in myclipboard this information about the terms

of service right there now obviously there'slittle adjustments we can make we can adjust the spacing we can get it exactly perfectbut i want to go with this forsakes of times to click on the textblock here and let's goahead and click on the edit there and i want to go here and i'm gonna paste in my littlebit of text now here's an option you can highlight this and change the text color here if youwant but then if you do that and make it why you're not can be able to see it here becauseit's going to show it here but if we go to style we can change the text color here andwe can make that white sets kind of a good best practice there to go ahead and changeit in the style don't change it in here unless you want multiple different colors you cando that now it's obviously a little too big

right here sorting to make that smaller returnon the topography and my guess is it low\'85 see i don't want to guess let's see how bigthat it is that is 14 pixels so let's go ahead and set this to 14 as well just like thisand there is our terms of service now one of the problem so far is this is aligned tothe top we want to kinda push it down into the middle you see how this is in the middleright there we want to push that down into the middle a little bit so what i'm in a dois i'm going to go into the column options for right here somewhere click on column andit's gonna pull up my column settings and in here working to have an alignment optionthat alignment option can be found underneath the layouts and it's his content positionand we want to change that to be in the middle

so now when i go like this it's showing thatperfectly in the middle nicely we can put little spacing and stuff like that but thisis pretty close as it is you can see it's very close and i saw how easy that was tochange the form and style it like that it's pretty amazing so alright let's go back herenow what we want to do is we want to start working on the next section we just want aheadline and then we want to start with a big future grid right there so to make thistwo separate sections one with the headline and one with these feature grids some to gohere to create a new section and it just to be one column like that and i'm a go aheadand put the headline in i like the styling of this i think it's probably similar to thatto that but a different color we see this

and then we see that lets the size differenceis this right here were run in a 32 in this right here were at 40 so when i want to dois i'm just going to duplicate this like that and then i'm in a drag and drop it here clickon it for some to change the color to blackman to lighten it up a little bit just to softenit up and then i'm going to click on the content i want it all on one line actually what ishould do is just copy there little bit of text right here like that and i want to putthat in so now it's on one line i do want it centered so i can click on the alignmentoption right here all right so there you go i have it in the center and want to add alittle bit of spacing to the top and bottom i think we should stick with that 70 numberwe had here so i'm in a go to the section

right there on the click on it and i wantto go to the advance and i'm going to add a bit of padding someone new click on thislock here and on the top and bottom let's just go with 70 like that and so it's cangive us that space the last thing i forgot to do was to change the font on this summitclick on it and it set the 40 and let's go down to 32 which is very similar to what thisis the 32 sedona work on my feature grid and one of the dues create a new section and inthis section is going to have these three columns let's go ahead and get our three columnsin there just like that now let's find which elements we should use now i could just putin each of those columns and image headline and then some text but there is a specificelement that is made to do that siliceous

scroll down to that element right now it'sgonna be a general element and it's good to be this image box right here so i can justdrag and drop my image box and you can see there it is so the first element in an imagebox is the actual image some to go ahead and click on the settings here click on deleteand then i'm going to choose it and it's right here now this is one of those things wherei grabbed it from their website and i talked recommend that okay so let's go ahead andjust take some of this text right here and see if we can get it to look very similarjust like this and i'm at a pace that in there so we have it so far except there is alignmentdifferences here it's aligned to the right here it's not and then there's some changesthat need to be made right there so we are

going to go into the style settings firstand then were to go to words is content to look at some of the options we have thereso if i was in the content tab right here you see there was an image position and ifi go like this it's not going to be what i want to scan a look like that and that's notwhat were after so if i go to the style the overall alignment is going to be right hereunderneath the content tab and i can choose to the right and that's kind of what we seehappening over on digital oceans site now for the title is the font looks a little toothick and i don't know if the size is right let's see so it is a 24 and it's a 600 andthe weight of the font so let's go ahead in the title and let's make the color similarto that normally i would suggest having your

font color codes in a text editor we can justcopy and paste it across on the customize the topography to make this 32 just like wesaw actually wasn't 32 is 24 sorry and it's a little too thick let's see what the 600looks like he had to different font some to go down to 400 maybe 500 there go i'll do500 just like that and you can see let me get out of what font it's looking pretty goodhere and the content color should be a little darker so i go down a description let's goto the font let's make that darker as well just like that that looks good to me so nowlet's see how this is looking and emma to compare it and it looks fine to me you canof course manipulate the spacing a little bit so now what i would do is him and it duplicatedtwo times like this and i'm going to drag

and drop it over and i'm going to just duplicatethis entire section i guess i find wanted to i could just duplicate it and have twoelements in each of these rows i could just go like this and like this and that i canput some spacing between it but i think i'm in a just make it a separate section altogetherto delete those out anima click on section and i'm in a just duplicate the section thatwe have some spacing issues we definitely want to have a bit of spacing between theseso let's go here to section and i'm in a pull of the section options but go to advancedand for that i'm going to margin to push some space between these somata unlock that andi am going to actually here's a situation where i think we can keep it locked and thenroll up will increase both of them at the

same time so maybe something like but seemy ball and get something like that that's fine so let's just go up to 65 just for kicksand there it is so so far we have that and then we have our feature grid okay so nowis going to be the hard part of this and that is to create this grid not to put a headlineyou know how to do that you already know how to do button i'm just gonna work on this gridfor the remainder of this video on this pricing grid in case him to go back to elementor themto click on add a new section and i want a five column option now what's odd is mostpage builders don't give you a five column option but elementor does and i like thata couple years ago i use visual composer and if you've used that page builder you knowthere is no five column option i don't i don't

know why that is but i've experienced thatso anyways i'm going to click on that and working to make this five column pricing tableright now this is probably one of the also one of the most powerful pro elements is thispricing table i've never seen a pricing table plug-in or software that has this much powerit's an and options to customize it so here it is price stable i'm a drag and drop itin there and so this is just the default look that is giving us and working to get thisall changed to look similar to here are we have some line items there's no line in itwe have a dollar we have a number here for the pricing and we have this little bit ofinformation just appearing off to the side of that and we have this border this blueborder so let's go ahead and see how fast

we can do that's only going to the optionshere for it and there right here on the side so were looking to use a title or subtitlesaid air information right there someone to go ahead and delete those options and what'snice is if you don't want them you just remove the text and they just completely disappearand so there's our header and for the pricing working to just make it similar to what wesee on digital oceans website which is five and instead of monthly working to do that/mojust like that per month working to move it obviously okay sets our pricing and then wehave our features right here and i don't think we need to adjust anything in them icon colorwill not commit adjust anything in those looming collapse that in the footer if you noticehere there's actually just one big button

here this is more for informational purposesso i'm in a remove the payment button that is right there so all you have to do is highlightand remove it and that's what i love about this pricing table builder that's as simpleas it is to get rid of that button if you don't want it and i don't want this additionalbit of info there and you can see there it is now obviously we have some spacing issuesand what i did to overcome that is i just put a space and right there just literallya space in a kind of put that space back there for me summit collapse footer going to ribbonand i don't want that that ribbon there i do think the ribbons are pretty awesome andyou can put it on whatever side you want and you can make it say whatever you want butfor this example i'm going to have to remove

it just like that now let's go into the styleand take a look at some of her options there so our background color we know we want thatto be white just like this and that's our background color and actually i remember nowwhen i was initially making this this page that was actually just for the header andwe got rid of the header of the title and the subtitle so let's go ahead and collapsethat i actually didn't need to do that were actually going to now start playing aroundwith the pricing options so the background color here is good to be white let's see ifthat gets us that got us halfway there whoops and we have more options here we want to playaround with the padding i don't think we need to play around with the color is fine i canplay route the topography as you seen the

currency symbol that's okay as well and ithink it's this fractional part is what we need to play around with no no no not thefractional part it's the. let's see position below position beside thereit is what that position beside and let's see i think now i might be there we go soto get this there i had to for the. i had to position it beside and then i havethis vertical position option right here sorting to go to the bottom and that's what we sellright there it's just right there on the bottom okay so that is the pricing let's go to ourfeatures and it's the same thing working to get our background color just like that inthe end then let's change the color of the items we want that blue i don't think i havein my clipboard anymore and this is why say

it's good to have a little text editor areyou saving all this stuff let's take the blue right there there it is okay so i got theblue so let's space that blew in and there it is who it's so bright okay some click onthat the collapse said i'm not to play around with any of the topography the alignment isfine the with this fine now the divider let's get rid of that now the divider we probablyneed to maybe space a little bit let's see if we can space it out just a little bit ithink i'm when i have to go into the topography option like this and scroll down to the lineheight let's see there we go so we can space that however we want maybe just a little bitmore like that actually it gives you the option of pixel or em i prefer pixel like that let'ssee there we go just like that though looks

fine to me okay so that is it for our lineitems the feature boxes go to the footer it's this area here working to make that whitesand there it is so were getting getting pretty close now were getting pretty close now let'sgo into the advanced tab now i need to make a border on this item right here some to clickon background and border and i'm in a choose a color enema to put that same bright bluein just like that and now we have a border but the only promise this border needs totouch this border and they all kind of need to link together but we have that little bitof padding that you see in the column there in a minute have to get rid of that and soi think what i'm going to do is i'm going to click on column and i'm in the column settingsbut go to advanced and for the padding and

to put zero let's see so we have zero nowlet's see what it looks like what when i did that i lost my little border so let's seeif we can get that back i wonder if i needed to make this one let's see let's see if thatgot me my border back it didn't okay so i gotta go find what happened to my border togo ahead and now click on the element here again and i would go into advanced anima goto background and border maybe i just need to make my border thicker or maybe actuallyjust need to select the border by choosing border type solid and then one about thatokay there is my border i knew i would find you and that i got a select that border colorokay i'm just getting a little ahead of myself let's choose a border color and we've gotthat blue there it is now standing out now

or get ourselves a border you can see thatright there okay so now what i'm in the need to do something you need to clone this allthe way across in each column i'm going to have to get rid of that padding so they allkind of a butt up against each other and so what i want to do here is just the duplicatedfour times just like that animal to move them all across you can see i have to just thepadding so when i do this one last because i need to figure out how to make it a littlelarger and put a box shadow so you can see it's larger and then there's this kind ofa blue box shadow swimming to do is just blast through this andaman to set this to zero andhim to click on here actually make sure i do it right click on column right there anddo the same thing here just like that and

then for here mona click on that and makesure i get that right there looks like i didn't get it right here that's okay let's go anddo that again larry go so now we have it looking pretty close to where we wanted it looks likei might have accidentally messed this column up so let me click on that column and seewhat i did wrong let's see let's go like this and this is good this is good i think i messedthis column up i will go and fix that in a moment but let's deal with the elephant inthe room and that is this i need to make this bigger i need to add some box shadow and ineeded to just sit on top of this and on top of this so let's see how we can accomplishthat someone click on the actual elements right here and then i would go to the advancedtab emma play around with the margin in the

padding so let's see here so for the marginlet's see how a negative margin's gonna look at that's going to accomplish it someone togo to a -10 like that and actually i think i needed to zero it out in the column forsolemnly go back into the column remember how i zeroed it out on all of these the paddingslits zero that out okay that's what i will never go we already have it taller we alreadyhave it here and right here on this side it's this one's on top of that and there's a littlefix for that so we go back into here go back into my advanced and of course i want to addthat box shadows well now for i think i needed to play around with the padding a little bitlet's see actually let me zero out something in the column if i go back into the columnmake my margins is zero as well in all that's

left is stretching it down i know how i didthis i was playing around with this bottom area right here in the setting so if i'm inthe price table and i went into the style and then i went to the footer i've got someoptions here for additional information and this is the info that it shows here so let'ssee if there you go now it's now it's: there we go just like that you see how it's increasingthat's that's actually perfect for me maybe down the 40 or something maybe 3535 like thatlet's see if we get a little bit of a box shadow going on on that so i think it forthat i just go to advanced and then go to background and border and then here's a boxshadow's and i've got a bit of a box shadow going on to but my big problem is that thiselement is not on top of this element and

unfortunately with this there's a little tweakyou need to make it via css now if you have the pro version and you must if you're makingthis pricing table if we go to the advanced tab of the pricing table there's this customcss option and we just need to paste something in there and someone to bring that over rightnow actually we don't put it on the price table we put it on the column itself to havethis column be on top of everything else in the scalded z index so when i click on columnand go to advanced and then custom css i'm just gonna paste it in right there and youcan see it immediately lifted it on top of everything else and so this is called thez index and it's basically how you use css to instruct the browser what would appearon top so sometimes when you see a sticky

header on a website you scroll and it appearson top of everything that's usually going to have a z index is a higher number thanothers see indexes and i know it's a little geeky there but so let's see how it's againright now and you see it's actually pretty close only thing i would do differently isi would scrunch these and just ever so slightly and i've got to find out what happened herewhy these aren't linked up let's do that real quick okay i figured it out i had just puta wrong setting here for padding i had ones in there for this column and that's wherethat problem was coming in so you can see how were looking so far you can see we'vegot ourselves a header here that's pretty spot on a future grid and this pricing tablethat is pretty spot on one thing i would do

is maybe add a little bit of spacing in thispricing tables section here so we were doing a bit of 70 i think okay so we've got somespacing now let's just add a quick section here and finish wrap this up and working tojust go ahead and get that blue again and the same blue that's in this column thereand go like this in my blue to make the background of this section that same blue go to stylei'm going to just do a solid color this time not to do a gradient paste in my color andthen we have this volunteer and then we have a button or headline so i could just grabthis if i wanted like that and we can change the alignment to be centered like that andwe can go ahead and get ourselves this little bit of text right here and remember that wholeissue with the line break we have to put that

br someone do that after the letter a so thelarge right here some ago like that and it's going to give us that and then we just needto add a bit of spacing to it so let's go ahead and were going to unlock here and forthe top i'm in a go 70 and for the bottom 70 just like that and then we can just popa button in there and use that same style so anyways this is it's i mean this is itright here i'm in to do the little bit of touchup and i will have a link down belowfor you to import this if you wanted to have it for yourself sorry for the length of thisvideo i just want to show you the power of elementor and how you can pretty much in designwhatever you want you just have to get familiar with the controls and find what you want todesign and with the tools it gives you there's

literally no limits you could solve the onlytwo little bits of code i added was at one point i added the back it] br to get thisto be two lines and the only other bit of code i added was to put this on top of thiselement here on the right of it that's the only time i added any bit of code to thistemplate and we are able to do the most amazing things with it remember i got a link downbelow if you wanted to purchase elementor pro i also have a link down below to hostingyou get 57% off and if you did purchase elementor pro through my link i will happily give youaccess to my elementor essentials course because you made it to the end of the video i havea free gift for you but before i talk about that i want to ask you to do something forme if you can give this video a thumbs up
